The Circus Electrique serves as a sort of hub in-game, containing a different buildings where players can hire new performers, heal their characters, and craft useful items. Players will fight with steampunk-styled enemies like Mimes, Posh Girls, and Robobears utilizing both defensive and offensive moves, as well as moves designed to lower devotion - if an enemy's devotion gets too low, they will flee the battle, but the same is true for performers. Participants all have both a health meter and devotion meter, the latter of which correlates to things like fighter loyalty and precision. Each class has different moves they can utilize during combat, with available abilities correlating with the fighter's position in the line of 4. Players can unlock a myriad of different classes throughout the game, beginning with Clowns, Strongmen, and Fire Blowers available to them with Escape Artists following soon after. Players will always have a four-person team during fight sequences in Circus Electrique, which have many Darkest Dungeon-esque gameplay qualities.
